Sample: Brand Voice & Style Guide
Brand Personality & Voice Traits
Lumina is The Sophisticated Architect. We do not sell sleep; we engineer recovery. Our voice is the sound of a quiet room and a precise instrument. We speak with the confidence of a specialist who does not need to raise their voice to be heard.
Authoritative
We lead with expertise. We avoid tentative language like "we believe" or "we feel." We state facts. Our authority comes from data and clinical outcomes, not adjectives.
- Avoid: "We think our AI might help you feel more rested."
- Use: "The adaptive surface corrects spinal alignment in real-time."
Precise
Vagueness is a failure of design. We use specific numbers, exact measurements, and technical terms. If a feature improves sleep, we name the specific sleep stage or biometric marker affected.
- Avoid: "Get a great night's sleep."
- Use: "Increase REM cycle duration by an average of 14%."
Minimalist
We value the reader's time. Every word must earn its place. We strip away fluff, filler, and marketing jargon. Short sentences create a sense of calm and control.
- Avoid: "Our revolutionary, state-of-the-art technology works tirelessly to ensure you wake up feeling completely refreshed and ready to take on the day."
- Use: "Precision engineering for deep recovery. Wake up restored."
Calming
Our tone is a sedative. We avoid exclamation points, urgency-based sales tactics, and high-energy punctuation. We use a steady, rhythmic cadence that mirrors the state of mind our products induce.
- Avoid: "Stop tossing and turning tonight! Order now for a better tomorrow!"
- Use: "Quiet the mind. Stabilize the body. Sleep."
The Luxury Filter
Luxury is the absence of noise. We never use "hype" words. We do not describe products as "game-changing" or "incredible." We describe the material, the mechanism, and the result.
- Avoid: "The most amazing mattress ever created for the modern executive."
- Use: "Medical-grade sensors integrated into a breathable, silk-blend textile."
Do's and Don'ts (with Examples)
Do: Use clinical precision.
Our customers value data over promises. Use specific metrics, biological terms, and mechanical descriptions. If a feature improves sleep, explain the physiological mechanism.
- Wrong: "Our mattress helps you wake up feeling refreshed and energized."
- Right: "The adaptive surface modulates temperature to maintain a core body heat reduction of 1.2 degrees, accelerating the transition into REM sleep."
Don't: Use marketing superlatives.
Avoid words like "revolutionary," "game-changing," or "ultimate." High-net-worth individuals view hype as a sign of a low-end product. Let the specifications create the prestige.
- Wrong: "Experience the most incredible sleep of your life with our revolutionary AI technology."
- Right: "AI-driven adjustments occur in real-time. The system responds to biometric shifts without waking the user."
Do: Embrace the minimalist sentence.
Write with the confidence of someone who doesn't need to over-explain. Use short, declarative sentences to create a sense of calm and authority.
- Wrong: "We have spent years perfecting a system that ensures you get the best possible rest so that you can perform at your peak the next day."
- Right: "Precision engineering for deep recovery. Perform better tomorrow."
Don't: Use "wellness" clichés.
Avoid vague terms like "holistic," "wellness journey," or "unlocking your potential." These sound like lifestyle blogs. We are a sleep system, not a spa.
- Wrong: "Embark on a journey to holistic wellness and unlock a better version of yourself."
- Right: "Optimize your circadian rhythm. Reduce sleep latency."
Do: Maintain a detached, professional distance.
We are the expert architect. We provide the tool; the user achieves the result. Avoid overly emotional appeals or "we understand your pain" empathy statements.
- Wrong: "We know how frustrating it is to toss and turn when you have a big board meeting tomorrow."
- Right: "High-stress careers often disrupt sleep architecture. Lumina stabilizes these patterns."
Don't: Use exclamation points or aggressive CTAs.
Urgency is for flash sales. Our tone is steady and inevitable. Use periods.
- Wrong: "Order now to transform your sleep tonight!"
- Right: "Configure your system."
